Mitsubishi was founded as a shipping company “Tsukumo-Shokai” by founder Yataro Iwasaki
1884
Founder Yataro Iwasaki leased the government-owned Nagasaki Shipyard, renaming it the Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery works.
This would become the foundation of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
1916
